PlasmaCar Review!

Monkey loves toys that he can ride. It doesn't matter if it is a tricycle, push car, or even a big stack of medical books... just as long as dad is there to push him around. Unfortunately, I think Monkey gets his coordination from me. He has yet to grasp the concept of pedaling his tricycle and gets frustrated that the ride-on toys we have here are too small for him. He needed something made for a "big boy" that didn't require a whole lot of coordination but was super fun (and super fast!)

From the moment I saw the PlasmaCar by PlaSmart I knew that it had to be a hot and popular toy. I figured it had to be a newer toy since I have never seen one before. I was surprised to find out how long the PlasmaCar has been around and how many awards it has received.

I was a little worried when the PlasmaCar arrived and it said some assembly required. I have had a few bad experiences putting together toys for Chunky and Monkey that had hundreds of parts, hours of assembly, and all the headaches to go along with it. I was quite surprised when I opened the box and only found a handful of parts! Assembly was a breeze and, honestly, took under 5 minutes. The best part about the PlasmaCar is that there are no pedals, gears, or batteries required to run the car. All you have to do is turn the steering wheel back and forth and away you go. Monkey quickly understood how the PlasmaCar worked and had a blast riding it around.  He rode the PlasmaCar for hours that first day and I think the only reason why he quit was because of nightfall and the swarm of Texas mosquitos that came with it.

Tha PlasmaCar is for ages 3+ and Monkey who just turned 3 yrs old had no problems riding around. I was worried about him falling off the PlasmaCar or it flipping over while he was riding it, but it is very well constructed and difficult to flip. The weight range is for up to 220 lbs on a flat smooth surface so even daddy could ride around if he wanted to (probably not something any of us would like to witness.) The only thing that the PlasmaCar is not recommended for is riding around on laminate or hardwood floors as it may scratch or scuff some surfaces.

Monkey loves riding the PlasmaCar around the house on the carpet. Even though he has to do a little more work indoors to get the car rolling, he loves riding around the "obstacle course" consisting of various toys laying on the floor and occasionally a speed bump in the road named Bubba.  It comes with a 6 month warranty against manufacturer defects and provides replacement parts for purchase if you wear out the tires from heavy usage.

There are a variety of colors to choose from and depending on how hard you search for the best deals online, I have found that price ranges from $50-$70.

PlaSmart, Inc. is a unique company that sticks by their philosophy of "smart, simple toys." Their products are fun, kid-powered and easy to operate. You can connect with them on Twitter and Facebook to see their full line of kid-friendly toys!

  1. I can relate, my little guy hasn't quite gotten the hang of pedals.
