Kalencom Review and Giveaway

When I first found out I would be able to review a Dad's Bag from Kalencom I was very excited and immediately went to share the news with Monica. Her response was "Don't we already have a diaper bag? Why do you need another one?" I told her that we already have a diaper PURSE that she picked out and this one was for me! I was thrilled I would soon have a man's diaper bag that I would be proud to carry with me in public.

Kalencom is based in New Orleans and is one of the oldest diaper bag companies in the United States with more than 35 years of experience. They are even credited with developing the first washable diaper bag. Company owner Monica Kalozdi, not my Monica, is the driving force behind their line and has even said "When we design a diaper bag we keep two things in mind: it must be easy and convenient to use, and it must appeal to the mom... if mom doesn't feel good using it, the bag will never leave your shelf." This is so true except she left out the dads. Today Kalencom offers more than 300 styles of bags and is working to lead the way in manufacturing environmentally friendly diaper bags.

Kalencom was kind enough to send me their Sam's Messenger Bag in blue plaid to review. As soon as I opened the box I knew I would love carrying around my new diaper bag. I loved the bright fun plaid pattern on  the bag. I was surprised to see that it was made with a laminated exterior, which makes it super easy to clean. The bag has plenty of room with lots of pockets on the inside for everything you need to carry. The messenger bag even comes with a matching plaid insulated bottle holder and zippered pouch. A changing mat is also included for those diaper changes when you least expect them.

Plenty of storage room for diapers, wipes, phones, keys, drinks, and snacks.

Heading in the zoo.
For my first trip with my new Dad's Bag we took a trip to one of the boys favorite places the Houston Zoo. We loaded the diaper bag down with all the essentials plus a few extra luxury items for mom like lip gloss. I ended up carrying the bag for most of the day and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the adjustable padded shoulder strap was. My other bag did not have a padded shoulder strap and it was always digging into my shoulder causing discomfort. Yes, if you were wondering my wife had me color coordinate my shirt to match the bag. It really did match well and I even had a few people stop and compliment the diaper bag asking who made it and where they could get one. I was already loving my new bag!

Kalencom has a bag to fit everyone. They offer hundreds of different styles to choose from. Prices on Kalencom's website range from $60-$130. More bag choices are available through their catalog. You can download their catalog at the top of their page. They are offering free shipping on orders of $50 or more to residents of the continental US. If you prefer to see the bags in person you can use their store locator to help you find a store near you. I was able to find 9 locations within 50 miles from my house. Kalencom also offers layette, potty training, and accessories/take-alongs to purchase on their site. You will not be disappointed by any of their products.
